CYNTHIA TAN
Co-Founder and Coach
Cynthia is a junior at Stuyvesant High School. She has been a Nationally Ranked Debater for three years, attending some of the most prestigious Invitational tournaments in the country, including those at Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Yale, and more. She regularly debates high-intensity rounds against some of the best teams in the nation. She has qualified for State Championships multiple times throughout her debate career as well as the Tournament of Champions, the most competitive and prestigious tournament in the nation. She currently serves as Class President at Stuyvesant’s Student Union. She has three years of both private and group tutoring in Math and ELA. She also regularly volunteers to coach and judge students from Kindergarten to 8th grade in public speaking/debate.
MAYA DUNAYER
Co-Founder and Coach
Maya is a junior at Stuyvesant High School. She fell in love with the magic of public speaking at age 12, and has continued to pursue it throughout her high school career. Maya is currently entering her fifth year of participating in Model United Nations. She has won the Best Delegate award at numerous conferences on the local, national and international level, including at Brown University, Johns Hopkins University, and at the Global Classrooms International Model United Nations conference. Maya currently serves as the Undersecretary General of Personnel for her school’s Model United Nations Team, which involves mentoring new club members in the art of public speaking. In addition to this, Maya has tutored at various tutoring organizations for young children.
AVA KAWAMURA
Coach
Ava is a current junior at The Bronx High School of Science. Throughout her academic career, she has valued the importance of public speaking and participated in multiple events including Model United Nations and Speech and Debate. She is currently a Nationally Ranked Debater and Novice Director of her high school’s Public Forum Debate Team, teaching over forty new members how to formulate and effectively deliver arguments. Ava has attended a multitude of tournaments on the national level, including those at Harvard University, Columbia University, and many more. Having been on her school’s Public Forum Debate Team since freshman year, she has qualified for State Championships numerous times and repeatedly reached elimination rounds at various prestigious tournaments.
